In Costa Rica there are two species of the Walking Stick insect. There is a green variation that generally remains lower to the ground than the other variation, which is more brown in color and replicates a branch in its appearance. These insects can be seen through the entirety of Costa Rica but are more prevalent in the costal regions. The low shrubbery of the forest floors tends to camoflage the green variation, while the brown version of the walking stick has the added pleasure of being found ubiquitously throughout the different elevations of plant life.
